Invasion cinema

“Invasion Cinema could be certainly considered a rich subgenre of Science Fiction. it originated from:

1) Fear and anxiety about possible alien invasions (see the 1947 Roswell episode)
2) fear of ‘communist infiltration’ and other Cold War side-effects
3) crisis of Hollywood film (TV had become a fierce competitor in the 50ies. it was no longer possible to build big-budget fantastic sets. monsters coming to our door steps were much cheaper and easier to make [Wierzbicki])
