The invader: from bizarre monster to invisible other

the scare of invasion can be represented in many ways. In the 50ies, the alien, or “the other” can be either very physical or completely invisible. However, similar representations and characterizations always acquire different meanings. usually, location (Japan, USA, Korea etc..) and time (1950s, 1970s, pre- or post- 9/11) imbue the representation of the monstrous –or invisible– other with radically different meanings.
